Tecate Ranch Whole Wheat Bread (bread Machine)

Total Time: 3 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 3 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup wheat bran
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons gluten
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon fast rising yeast (or 1 t. plus 1 t. bread machine yeast)

Recipe

  • 1 add all the ingredients to the pan according to the order in the manufacturer's instructions.
  • 2 set crust on dark and program for the whole wheat cycle; press start.
  • 3 after 10 minutes, check the dough ball with your finger.
  • 4 it will be sticky; add 1-2 tablespoons more flour.
  • 5 the dough will still be very sticky; don't worry, it will absorb the liquid during the rises.
  • 6 if you add too much flour, the bread will be dense, rather than springy.
  • 7 if you don't add the extra flour as needed, the top can collapse.
  • 8 when the baking cycle ends, immediately remove the bread from the pan and place it on a rack.
  • 9 let cool to room temperature before slicing--important.
