Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (8 tablespoons)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl and mix well.
  • 2 stir in canola oil.
  • 3 add buttermilk and stir until blended.
  • 4 knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  • 5 roll dough into a 15 x 8 inch rectangle.
  • 6 preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • 7 grease a 9 inch round baking pan lightly.
  • 8 spread butter over the dough.
  • 9 combine granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and mix well.
  • 10 sprinkle over butter.
  • 11 roll up rectangle, jelly roll fashion, starting from one long side.
  • 12 pinch seam in seal.
  • 13 cut the roll into 1 and 1/2 inch slices.
  • 14 arrange the slices, cut side up, in prepared baking pan.
  • 15 bake until lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • 16 remove from oven.
  • 17 serve hot.
