Three-grain Breakfast Cereal With Walnuts And Dried Fruit

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 4 1/2 cups oats
  • 1 cup uncooked quick-cooking barley
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or 3/4 cup pecans
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 (7 ounce) package dried mixed fruit, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325°.
  • 2 in a small bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients--stir using a whisk.
  • 3 in a large bowl, combine the oats and next 5 ingredients.
  • 4 add in syrup mixture; stir well to coat.
  • 5 spread cereal mixture evenly onto a jelly-roll pan that has been coated with cooking spray.
  • 6 bake for 30 minutes or until browned, stiring every 10 minutes.
  • 7 stir in dried fruit.
  • 8 cool completely.
  • 9 store in an airtight container up to 5 days.
