Stovetop Maple Sugar Baked Beans

Ingredients

- 1 teaspoon canola oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar-free maple syrup
- 1/4 cup splenda sugar substitute
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 4 -5 drops liquid smoke (more if desired)
- 30 ounces pinto beans, drained and rinsed (you can vary the beans if you choose)
Recipe
- 1 in a large saucepan heat oil, add onions, and saute` for 3-4 minutes until softened slightly. add remaining ingredients and stir.
- 2 simmer on low for 25-30 minutes.
